The D8400 7-channel voltage, current and thermocouple input module is part of the DGH’s D8000 data acquisition module family with USB interface. This module contains 7 user-programmable inputs; each can be assigned to a different input type (voltage, current or thermocouple). The specification is identical to that of input-type specific modules D8100 (voltage), D8200 (current) and D8300 (thermocouple).
The module continuously converts the data at the rate of up to 25/20 conversions per second, storing the latest result in the buffer. The D8400 modules communicate in MODBUS RTU protocol; the data can therefore be retrieved by sending a MODBUS query to the module from the host computer. The D8400 module can be directly connected to a wide range of sensors and annunciators, and provides all signal conditioning and linearisation, while containing no pots or DIP switches. For extra security, it utilises a non-volatile EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) to store all user-selectable settings such as the range, meaning the values are maintained in the event of power loss. The D8400 module is compatible with any commercial software supporting Modbus RTU protocol and is DIN-rail mountable (MK-1 mounting kit required). Combined with other D8000 series modules, a complete, customised data acquisition system can be built easily.
